Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir (old vines, 40–60 years)
Region: Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France
Critic Score: VN 88–90 | TA 92
Producer: Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini — a small, highly regarded family estate in Gevrey-Chambertin
Tasting Notes: The old vines (Vieilles Vignes) designation signals deeper concentration and greater complexity than a standard village wine. Dark ruby with a nose of ripe black cherry, cassis, forest floor, dried roses and a hint of spice. The palate is full-bodied with dense but silky tannins, excellent depth and a long, mineral finish. A serious Gevrey that punches well above its village classification.
Food Pairing: Beef bourguignon, roasted venison, duck à l'orange, aged Comté, truffle-based dishes.
